Family get-together Dine and Dance in Doha
Doha: The Konkani Speaking Community [KSC] from India will host its Family get-together Dine and Dance at Diplomatic Club (Royal Tent) on April 24, it was announced here yesterday.
The Family get-together Dine and Dance will begin at 8pm, officials of the Konkani Speaking Community [KSC] said here yesterday.
The organizers have romped in Goa’s leading band “Lynx “and “Joyce & Aggie” with Lancy to provide foot tapping music for the show, patronized by the Konkani Speaking Community members from the Indian states of Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Kerala.
“Lynx has a reputation of providing its audience, enjoyable evenings of good live music for dancing and listening pleasure, which makes its memorable and unforgettable evenings for all music lovers,” said KSC about the Goan band, which made its debut to the Goan music scene in 1994.
“The band encompasses classic music from the 1940’s to the modern day pop. This includes Jazz, Swing, Bebop, Country, Disco, Rock n Roll, Ballroom, Jive, Techno Pop, Rap, Reggae to Classic and Modern Rock,” added the official, about the band which played for the 2012 wedding of India’s tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi and Bollywood actress Lara Dutta.
Besides English, the band also performs Hindi, especially modern day Hindi Pop, Konkani, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili, Marathi, Spanish and several other languages.
The Konkani speaking people are spread all over the Konkan region of India from Kasargod in Kerala to Sawantwadi in Maharashtra, besides Goa and Mangalore in Karnataka.
The Lynx has grown immensely popularly because of their unique rendition of various styles of music, which appealed to the public. It is because of this very appeal, they performed in various cities of India, and countries abroad such as England, Dubai, Doha-Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Abu-Dhabi.
The band holds the unique distinction of being the first Goan musicians ever, to make a CD containing Konkani and English music ~ both traditional and original, called "Viva Goenkar" ~ a highly successful venture to date.

Lynx is also the only Goan band to have four very successful released albums. Followed by the debut album “Viva Goenkar”, was “Christmas with Lynx & Friends”, “Spirit of Goa” to “Lets Groove” which was released in 2011.
In 2007, Lynx won the most coveted title of the all Goa “Sprite – Band of the Sand” competition. The prize included a recording with EMI Virgin Records titled “Lynx –Spirit of Goa” which was released in March 2008. This is also how they got to be popularly known as “Lynx – Band of the Sand”.
The members of the band consists of Anthony Fernandes (Bass/Vocals), Frazer Pacheco (Keyboards/Vocals), Sandy Pacheco (Vocals), Savio Fernandes (Drums/Vocals) and Angelo Fernandes (Guitar /Vocals), – five ‘easy-to-get-along-with’ people, who make ‘Magic with Music’.
